Why does poplar tree from alluvial soil like in Bihar turn dark ? Does it affect its price in 2023?

Reasons for turning poplar color into Dark

Poplar wood from places like Bihar can sometimes become darker, and there are two main reasons for this. First, when the wood sits on dark/damp soil, little things called fungi start growing on it. These fungi can make the wood look darker. Second, the soil where the poplar tree grows has some minerals in it. When these minerals mix with the wood, they can change its color to be darker.

Effect on poplar tree prices

Imagine you’re buying wood to make beautiful furniture. If the wood is dark and has stains, it might not look as nice. So, people might not want to pay as much money for it. On the other hand, if the wood is going to be used for something like making cardboard or crates, the dark color might not be a big problem. People might still buy it even if it’s not very pretty because they will use it for things where appearance doesn’t matter much.

If the wood gets really damaged and starts falling apart because of the fungi or the minerals, then it’s not very useful anymore. This can make the wood worth even less money. So, whether the wood turning dark affects its price depends on how bad the darkening is and what people plan to use the wood for.

To sum up, poplar wood from places like Bihar can become darker because of fungi and minerals in the soil. This can make the wood less valuable if it’s supposed to look nice, but it might not matter as much if it’s being used for less fancy things. If the wood gets seriously damaged, its price could go down a lot. So, the darkness of the wood can change how much it’s worth in different situations.
